Red Poppy

2025 clay, hand built, Jalisco clay, last year I went to the studio of Santiago Varela in Guadalajara and made a poppy in ceramica. I grow them by seed in my garden and have an annual practice of painting them and then last year in the library at Ghost Ranch, I found this piece of O Keeffee in a book (image in my instagram post) I spent a morning therein the Ghost Ranch library reading up on but that was in August 2025. and I made this piece in March 2025, I want to build more in clay, calling myself out for future art goals
