Flowers Reflect the Stars

The year of the sunflower was the theme at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center and I was asked to make a piece that became semi permanent and kept being extended until it was up for almost 1 year (the original contract was 3 mos). I had turned my Austin, TX backyard into a sunflower field for covid so this was the perfect project for me, I sat and painted each flower that I grew for the piece. I hired a magazine photographer to document each flower painting and in photoshop created my mural. Then I worked with a vinyl print company in Austin Texas called thomasgraphicsinc.com and scaled the piece up to 8x10ft and installed it with the Center on the education, in the center window, just past the pollinator hut.
